It is located in the western part of the region 25 km south-west of Smolensk , 23 km south of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Upokoy river. 29 km north of the village is the railway station Dachnaya-2 on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
