It is located in the western part of the region 10 km south-west of Smolensk , 9 km south of the highway A141 Orel - Vitebsk , on the banks of the Sozh River . 16 km north of the village is the railway station Dachnaya-1 on the line Smolensk - Vitebsk .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
