It is located in the western part of the region 1 km south-west of Smolensk , 3 km south of the highway A141 Orel - Vitebsk , on the banks of the Lubnya river. 5 km north of the village is the Gnezdovo railway station on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
