It is located in the western part of the region 4 km southwest of Smolensk , 4 km north of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Dnieper River. 2 km north of the village is the railway station Dachnaya-2 on the line Smolensk - Vitebsk .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
