Located in the western part of the region, 49 km north-west of Smolensk , 7 km west of the P133 Smolensk - Nevel highway, on the banks of the Olsha River. The railway station Golynky on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line is located 26 km south of the village.

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
