Located in the western part of the region, 14 km south-east of Smolensk , 6 km east of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Berezinka River. The railway station Ryabtsevo on the Smolensk - Roslavl line is located 5 km east of the village.

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
