It is located in the western part of the region 17 km south-east of Smolensk , 6 km west of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Sozh River . 15 km north-east of the village is the Tychinino railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941, liberated in September 1943 [1] .
