It is located in the western part of the region, 12 km north-east of Smolensk , 2 km south of the M1 Belarus highway, on the banks of the river Dryazhna . 13 km south of the village is the Volcheyka railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
