Valutino is a village in the Smolensk district of the Smolensk region of Russia . It is part of the Korokhotkinsky rural settlement. The population is 635 inhabitants ( 2007 ).

It is located in the western part of the region 2 km east of Smolensk , 2.5 km south of the P134 Staraya Smolenskaya road, Smolensk - Dorogobuzh - Vyazma - Zubtsov , on the banks of the Kolodnya River. 2 km west of the village is the Smolensk-Sortirovochny railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .

History

On August 7 (19), 1812, a defensive battle of the Russian rearguard against the French took place near the village.

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
