Located in the western part of the region, 13 km north-west of Smolensk , 0.1 km north of the M1 Belarus road. 6 km south of the village there is the railway station Rakitnaya on the Moscow - Minsk line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
