It is located in the western part of the region 5 km west of Smolensk , 4 km north of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway. 2 km southwest of the village is the Gnezdovo railway station on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
