It is located in the western part of the region 34 km north of Smolensk , 28 km north of the Belarus highway M1 , on the banks of the Opolenka River. 35 km south of the village is the Krasny Bor railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
