Located in the western part of the region, 33 km north of Smolensk , 27 km north of the M1 Belarus road. The railway station Rakitnaya on the Moscow - Minsk line is located 33 km south of the village.
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
