Located in the western part of the region, 29 km north of Smolensk , 22 km north of the M1 Belarus motorway. 29 km south of the village is located the railway station Krasny Bor on the line Moscow - Minsk .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
