It is located in the western part of the region, 39 km north-west of Smolensk , 14 km north of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Klets river. 12 km south of the village is the Poselkovaya railway station on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
