Located in the southern part of the region, 40 km north-east of Roslavl , 24 km north of the A101 Moscow-Warsaw highway (“Old Polish” or “Varshavka”), on the banks of the Bolshaya Prismara river . The railway station Shchepot on the Roslavl - Faience line is located 26 km south of the village.

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Hitler's troops in August 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
