It is located in the southern part of the region, 34 km north-east of Roslavl , 16 km north of the A101 Moscow-Warsaw highway (Old Poland or Warsaw), on the banks of the Desna River . 33 km south-west of the village is the Stodolische railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in August 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
