It is located in the central part of the region, 26 km south-east of Pochinka , 7 km west of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Stmet River . In 7 km to the northeast of the village there is the Stodolische railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Hitler's troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
