It is located in the central part of the region 26 km northwest of Pochinka , 10 km east of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Guznomenka River. 1 km south-east of the village is the Ryabtsevo railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
