It is located in the central part of the region 25 km north-west of Pochinka , 7 km east of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Berezinka River. 4 km north-east of the village is the Ryabtsevo railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
