It is located in the central part of the region 16 km northwest of Pochinka , 6 km west of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Zheleznitsa River. 13 km north-east of the village is the Peresna railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
