It is located in the western part of the region 16 km south-west of the Monastery , 32 km south of the P135 highway ( Smolensk - Krasny - Gusino), on the banks of the Frolovka River. 50 km north of the village is the Gusino railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [1] Purygino 19km from the Monastery and from 78km of Smolensk
