It is located in the western part of the region 14 km north-east of the Monastery , 25 km west of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway. 32 km east of the village is the Grudinino railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
