It is located in the western part of the region 13 km west of the Monastery , 52 km west of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway. 54 km east of the village is the Engelhardt railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
