It is located in the western part of the region 21 km south-west of the Monastery , 54 km west of the A141 Orel - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Krapivnya river. 59 km east of the village is the Vaskovo railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
