It is located in the northwestern part of the region 24 km northeast of Demidov , 27 km northeast of the P133 Smolensk- Nevel highway. Smolensk railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line is located 67 km south of the village.
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Hitler troops in July 1941 , liberated on September 17, 1943 by subdivisions of the 940th Infantry Regiment of the 262nd Infantry Division of the Kalinin Front . [one]
