Located in the northwestern part of the region, 41 km north-east of Demidov , 35 km northeast of the P133 Smolensk- Nevel highway, on the banks of the Elsha River. Smolensk railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line is located 89 km south of the village.
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Hitler's troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
