Located in the northwestern part of the region, 54 km northeast of Demidov , 41 km northeast of the P133 Smolensk- Nevel highway, on the banks of the Elsha River. 104 km south of the village there is a Smolensk railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Hitler's troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
