Tankobon ( Jap. 単 行 он Tanko: Bon , "a separate book") in Japan - the format of the publication of books. Tankobon is usually a separate (i.e. not part of a series) book. As a rule (although not always), it is issued in a paperback [1] .
As applied to ranobe and manga, the term “tankobon” can also be used to refer to a collection of chapters of one work, as opposed to weekly magazine editions, which publish many separate chapters of various stories from different authors [2] . Such tankobons have 200-300 pages, the size of an ordinary pocket-sized book, paperback, better quality than in magazines , paper , and are also equipped with a dust jacket . There is a manga that immediately appeared in the form of tankobons [3] , and never comes out in the form of volumes. Usually manga is published in chapters in magazines, and then comes out in tankobon format. [one]
The most successful manga is released as an Aizoban ( Japanese 愛 蔵 版 Aizo: Ban ) - a special edition for collectors . Aizobans are issued in a limited edition, on high-quality paper and are provided with additional bonuses: a case , another cover, color pages, etc. Usually, the most popular manga are printed in the tankobon format [4] . Sometimes, as a synonym for Aizoban , the term kanzemban is also used ( Japanese 完全 版 , “full version”) . [five]
