Coach Career
Roberto Scarone is one of the most outstanding coaches in the history of South American football. Among his talents were the ability to motivate his teams in the most difficult situations. Friendlies, which he organized between the main and reserve squads of the clubs, entered the history. The intensity of the struggle in such matches was so great that hundreds of fans tried to get into training in order to watch football of the highest level.
Scarone demanded that his players play power football, give accurate passes, quickly navigate the moments created, although the methods of work that he used were often criticized.
As the head coach of Peñarol, he led the club to two victories in the first draws of the Libertadores Cup (1960 and 1961).
