Village History
The first mention of the village dates back to 1615, and a wooden warm church is also mentioned, that is, the settlement itself appeared earlier. “There are 4 yards of churchmen in the village, 12 villages, 3 mending and 6 loans are assigned to it.” In 1652 there were 2 wooden churches in the village. In 1765, a stone church appeared in the village. By the end of the 19th century, 68 villages belonged to the parish, distant villages from the church 12 miles, 2025 parishioners were male and 2396 were female.
During World War II, children were evacuated from Leningrad in our village, the orphanage was until the 1960s. In Soviet times, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages were almost completely forced to move to Sovets: in the nearby villages closed village councils, schools, post offices, shops, medical centers, state farms / collective farms, stopped regular transport links, did not begin to pull the asphalt road beyond Sovets. So the surrounding villages became extinct very quickly, and Sauvie grew.
