Group History

In November 2008, the duo released their debut single, Quicksand, on Kitsuné Records. In December, the duo finished fifth in the BBC Sound of 2009 list.

The second single, "In For The Kill" was released March 16, 2009 . Dubstep- producer Skrillex made two remixes for the song: one of them went up to # 11 on iTunes Store charts. The single debuted at # 11 in the UK Singles Chart on March 22, 2009 , after which it rose to # 2. In March 2009, La Roux went on tour with Lily Allen . On June 22, the third single of the duet “Bulletproof” was released and immediately headed the UK Singles Chart [4] .

La Roux 's debut album was released on June 29, 2009 [5] . On July 21, he was nominated for the Mercury Prize , dividing 3-5 places with Bat for Lashes and Glasvegas [5] in the bookmaker favorites list. Turned out (to the surprise of most observers) out of the list of nominees, Lily Allen said: “I hope La Roux will win,” [5] but this did not happen. In the autumn of the same year, La Roux had a successful tour in the United States and began work on a new album, suggesting that they abandon the 80s sound that dominated the debut album. In early 2010, the Skream remix “In For the Kill” won the NME Shockwave Awards, winning the Best Dancefloor Filler nomination [2] . At the 53rd Grammy Awards ceremony , which took place on February 13, 2011, the album received an award in the nomination “Best Electronic / Dance Album” ( English Best Electronic / Dance Album ) [3] .
