Information about Valeria is controversial, the earliest mention of it dates back to the IV century . Traditionally, she is considered the wife of the martyr Vitaly and the mother of the martyrs Hervasius and Protasius , but there is also a version of her as a virgin martyr. It is assumed that she came from a noble family, she was baptized in her youth. Valeria was one of the Christians who devoted herself to the burial of martyrs. For this, she was arrested, declared herself a Christian and, after torture, beheaded in the Roman Coliseum . Her remains were buried by Christians in the Catacombs of St. Sebastian .
Another version of the life claims that shortly after the execution of her husband Vitaly in Ravenna, Valeria refused to make a sacrifice to idols and was brutally beaten near Milan , where she soon died [1] .
The relics of the saint reside in the British Museum and in Thibodeaux , Louisiana .
