2009 Alpine Skiing World Championship

The 40th Alpine Skiing World Championship was held in the French city ​​of Val d'Isere ( Savoy department ) from February 2 to 15, 2009 .

The International Ski Federation (FIS) announced Val d'Isère the venue for the championship on June 2, 2004 in Miami , USA . The competitors of the French city were the American cities of Vail and Avor (joint application), as well as the Austrian city ​​of Schladming , which received the right to host the 2013 Alpine Skiing World Cup .

It was the 4th in history and the first world championship since 1968 , held in France.
