Milan

“Milan” entered the Champions League, taking 3rd place in the national championship ^[2] . According to the results of two matches, the score was 1: 1, the rule of a goal scored in a foreign field did not work, because no one scored in the away matches, therefore, at first, additional time was played, in which none of the teams could score, and then a series of penalty , following which Liverpool won 4-1 and reached the final ^{[16] [11]} .

Before the match

The 2007 final was 11th for Milan in the European Cup and the Champions League that replaced it. Prior to that, the Italian team won six ( 1963 , 1969 , 1989 , 1990 , 1994 , 2003 ), and lost four ( 1958 , 1993 , 1995 , 2005 ) finals out of ten ^[20] . For Liverpool, it was the seventh final. Prior to that, the English team won five times ( 1977 , 1978 , 1981 , 1984 , 2005 ) and lost only once - in the 1985 final to the Italian Juventus .
