Julul is a high mountain lake in the east of the Republic of Altai of the Russian Federation . It is located on the territory of the Altai Reserve , in the Ulagansky district of the Altai Republic . It is located north-west, near Lake Hindiktig-Khol . The second largest lake of the republic.

Physical-geographical characteristic
It is located in the headwaters of the Chulyshman River at an altitude of 2,200 m [1] or 2,176 m . The length of the lake is 10 km, the width is 3.5 km, the area is about 30 kmΒ², the depth is 7 m. The lake is of moraine-diving origin. The shores are low, swamped, busy with dwarf birch and grasses. The Julukul hollow is a unique natural laboratory for studying the ancient glaciation of the Altai Mountains .
Fauna
The lake is teeming with fish. Of great interest is the bird market - the only one in Altai, where rare species of birds nest : cormorants and gulls .
