Biography

Nikolai Isleniev was born in 1785, came from nobles. He studied at a private educational institution, entered service on May 3, 1803 as a private in the Kurinsky musketeer regiment [1] .

January 5, 1805 moved to the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment . With this regiment, he participated in the war of 1807 with the French (in 1808 he was promoted to first officer rank), in the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Foreign Campaigns of 1813 and 1814 , distinguished himself in the battles of Borodino (awarded the Order of St. Anne 4 -th degree), Lutzen , Bautzen , Pirne, Gisgübel and Kulm, and for the difference in the last battle, received a special cross from the Prussian king. In 1816 he was promoted to colonel .

February 2, 1822 with the rank of colonel was appointed commander of the Life Guard Preobrazhensky regiment, June 22, 1823 he was confirmed as commander of the regiment, July 22, 1825 he was promoted to major general with resignation in the same post.

With the suppression of the rebellion on December 14, 1825 Isleniev was with a regiment in the Palace and St. Isaac's Square and the next day received the rank of adjutant general . In 1826 he was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree (the imperial crown was granted to this order in 1829).

In the years 1828-1829 Nikolay Aleksandrovich Isleniev was at the theater of war with Turkey . On August 15, 1830, he was appointed a member of the Committee established on August 18, 1814 (later called the Alexander Committee on the Wounded). December 18, 1830 for the immaculate length of service for 25 years in officer ranks he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree (No. 4415 according to the cavalier list of Grigorovich - Stepanov).

In 1831 he took part in the suppression of the Polish uprising and in the assault on Warsaw . For this campaign he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 2nd degree and the Polish insignia for military dignity ( Virtuti Militari ) 2nd degree.

On October 6, 1831, Isleniev was appointed commander of the 1st Guards Infantry Brigade, leaving the post of commander of the Preobrazhensky regiment, which he had until 1837, and was promoted to lieutenant general on December 6, 1833). With this brigade in 1835 he took part in large Kalish maneuvers, commanding a detachment of troops of the Guards Corps. For the excellent conduct of these maneuvers, he received the Order of the White Eagle and the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle of the 1st degree.

From July 22, 1837 to September 22, 1841 he was the head of the 1st Guards Infantry Division, then was an inspector of the Guards Reserve Semi-Battalions and Grenadier Reserve Battalions, a member of the committee for the compilation of the military infantry charter, and the commander of the remainder of the campaign in Hungary in St. Petersburg and the surrounding area infantry (from May 2, 1849). He was promoted to rank of general from infantry on October 10, 1843 and had Russian orders right up to St. Alexander Nevsky with diamond signs, inclusive.

Nikolai Aleksandrovich Isleniev died on February 25, 1851 in St. Petersburg , was buried in the Lazarevsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra .

Family

He was married to Countess Ulyana (Juliana) Khristoforovna Minikh (1791-1820), great-granddaughter of Field Marshal Count B. Kh. Minikh ; daughter of Christopher Sergeyevich Minikh from his marriage with the maid of honor Countess Anna Andreevna Efimovskaya (1751-1824). Died during the birth of the son of Alexander (02.11.1820-10.03.1822).
