Air New Orleans is a former US airline, created as a regional airline for commercial transportation in the states of the southeastern part of the country [1] . The airline operated as an independent carrier between 1981 and 1988 [2] .

History

The headquarters of the airline, initially and despite its name, was located in the city of Panama ( Florida ) [1] , and some service units were located in New Orleans [1] . In 1986, Air New Orleans moved its headquarters to Birmingham ( Alabama ), where it was located until the airline closed [1] .

In June 1986, Air New Orleans entered into a partnership agreement with the Continental Airlines main airline, under which it began operating regular flights under the Continental Express brand name ( brand ) from Lewis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans [3] . In January 1988, Air New Orleans declared bankrupt, taking advantage of the provisions of Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code and June 17, 1988 completely ceased operations [2] .

Accidents and Accidents

  • May 26, 1987, Air New Orleans flight 2962 under the Continental Express brand, British Aerospace Jetstream 31 , registration number N331CY. Immediately after taking off from the Lewis Armstrong International Airport, he made an emergency landing on an eight-lane motorway. Two people on the ground were injured, out of 11 passengers on board, no one was seriously injured [4] . The cause of the incident was an airplane pilot error [5] .
