Biography

In 1870 he graduated from the Naval College and received the title of midshipman . Was sailing on the Gulf of Finland on the frigate " Peresvet "

In 1870-1871, with S. O. Makarov [1] he made the transition to the steam schooner “ Tunguz ” under the command of Lieutenant Commander I. M. Grigorash from Kronstadt to the Far East . Then he served on the ships of the Pacific Squadron: clipper " Abrek ", corvette " Athlete ", corvette " Hero ". In 1872, Izmail Maximovich was awarded the rank of midshipman .

in 1874 he returned to the Baltic Sea and on July 15 was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the III degree . On April 15, 1875, he was appointed auditor of the Yakhont clipper.

On January 1, 1876, he was promoted to lieutenant, and on October 28 of the same year he graduated from the Mines Officer Class , and voluntarily went to the Black Sea where the events of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 took place .

Together with lieutenant S.O. Makarov, he proposed the use of pole-launched boats, participated in the re-equipment of the ship “ Grand Duke Konstantin ”, to which he was appointed senior mine officer . He served on it again under the command of Lieutenant S.O. Makarov.

Commanding mine boats (he himself was on the Chesma mine boat), he was directly involved in the mine and torpedo attacks of Turkish ships on May 1 and 29, December 15, 1877, and January 14, 1878. For these actions he was promoted to lieutenant commander and awarded the Order of St. George IV degree - a golden weapon with the inscription "For Courage" and the Order of St. Vladimir IV degree with swords and bows.

On May 1, 1878, the Prisoner was instructed to set up and guard the minefields in Burgas .

The successful use of mine weapons by the Russian fleet in combat operations on the Black Sea and the Danube was largely due to Lieutenant Zatsarenny. In addition to the Black Sea , he later served the Baltic Fleet.

Zaretsenny acted as a staunch supporter of the creation of closed mineships in the closed Baltic and Black Sea theaters up to the cruising type, inclusive.

In 1880 he was sent to England to the Yarrow shipyard , where he took command of the Batum destroyer under construction. Under the direction of the Infected Ship, the ship made a difficult transition of 4805 miles from England to the Black Sea port of Nikolaev in 2 months. This transition proved the possibility of long voyages of small mine ships in the open sea.

In 1881-1882, he was the head of the raid mine party on the Black Sea.

In 1883-1886 - the senior officer of the armored cruiser " Dmitry Donskoy ", which made a two-year overseas voyage.

Since 1886, he has been the commander of the Battleship monitor of the Baltic Fleet.

In the spring of 1887, Zarensky fell ill mentally and died on November 8, 1887.
