ClanBase Competition
The vast majority of ClanBase games are played online. Official matches are held as part of individual competitions, which are divided into cups - one-time tournaments held for 2-3 months, and ladders (from the English ladder - ladder) - non-stop championships in which players are ranked according to their rating, which changes in according to the results of matches. Cups are usually stronger in level and more intense in terms of load on players. If failure to appear in the ladder game entails a penalty in the ranking, then failure to appear in the cup tournament may result in a technical defeat or even disqualification. Cups can be held up to four times a year, but only those held in spring and autumn are considered official.
Cups
- EuroCups
Eurocups are one of the most prestigious competitions of the League. They take place twice a year, and only specially invited strongest e-sports teams of Europe [2] participate in them, who play tickets to the final stage. The final games are held at a special LAN- event, where players meet live and play under the supervision of thousands of fans from the audience, with the participation of professional commentators and broadcasting what is happening on the Internet. In the final, a cup and an impressive prize fund of tens of thousands of euros are played out [3] .
Eurocups are held for the most popular team e-sports games, in 2009 the 19th cup was held in the following disciplines:
- MoHAA Obj Real
- Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
- Counter strike
- CounterStrike: Source
- Call of duty 2
- Call of duty 4
- Nationcups
Nations Cups are held annually. A distinctive feature is the participation of national teams of countries, rather than individual clans. Already 9 Nations Cups have been held, 30 champion titles have been played, mainly in games from the Quake , Unreal Tournament and Call of Duty series . The most titled are the national teams of Germany , the Netherlands , Sweden , and Great Britain . Russia achieved success only in the Unreal Tournament 2004 , taking bronze medals in the Onslaught and Team Arena Masters disciplines in 2007 - 2008. In 2011, the Russian Counter-Strike: Source team won first place without losing a single match.
- Opencups
Open cups are held with the participation of all interested teams and players. As a rule, they are divided into several divisions by force, while the first division, div1, is the strongest.
- Hostedcups
ClanBase provides third-party access to its tournament system. At the same time, ClanBase is responsible only for some technical issues, and advertising, organizing, conducting matches and covering events are carried out by the organizing enthusiasts.
Ladders
Ladder is the main mechanism for holding matches on ClanBase. All clans playing a specific game or game mode are registered in the corresponding ladder, after which they choose their opponent for a single match. After the match, the rating of these teams changes in accordance with the ELO rules, which allows you to determine the strongest ladder participant and choose opponents in accordance with their own strengths. You can take first place only by defeating the current champion, since his rating is considered to be many times higher than the ratings of the rest.
Matchmaking
The main task of ClanBase is informational, organizational and technical conduct of competitions. To do this, there is a developed network of portals of individual events that contain forums, news feeds, announcements and reviews of matches, show the tournament grid, the rules for holding and participating in the event, and so on. Each registered member and each created team have their own pages.
Each event, be it a cup tournament or ladder, is served by administrators selected from reputable and respected players or, in more important cases, from the project staff - ClanBase Crew. The role of administrators is similar to the role of judges in game sports - to monitor compliance with the rules of the conduct, record absenteeism, resolve disagreements, make decisions in contentious situations.
Particularly interesting competitions and matches are broadcast on the Internet through audio or video broadcasts with the participation of experienced commentators, a large role in organizing and broadcasting matches is played by IRC channels, traditionally located on the Quakenet.org network.
ClanBase Rules
ClanBase has its own developed rules, both basic and for conducting competitions for specific games. To exclude non-gaming advantages for any party and falsifications, players are required to create demos of games and take screenshots with the final score. The judge has the right to demand the provision of demos from any team. In case of failure, the team may be awarded a defeat.
