St. Korentin was born in Brittany , near the Civitas Aquilonia (Civitas Aquilonia, liar. Lokmaria ). For a long time he was a priest , but decided to devote the rest of his life to hermitage and settled in the Nevet forest in . King Gradlon, who was hunting in the forest, met him and offered him land to build a monastery . St. Korentin agreed. Around the monastery, a settlement is formed, from which the city of Quimper , the capital of Kornuy , grew. Becoming Bishop of Camper , St. Korentin gained such fame among the people that the city was called Quimper-Corentin for a long time. In Kemper there is a Catholic Cathedral , consecrated in his honor.
Saint Korentin is revered as the patron saint of seafood , and is depicted on icons with fish. According to legend, a fish appeared at his hermit's cell every day, from which he cut off a piece for food, and this piece was miraculously restored.
