The structure of the club includes the team of the Belarusian Extra League "Youth-Minsk" , playing in the Highest Hockey League farm-club "Junior" , the team of the Youth Hockey League " Youth ", Sports School "Youth" and the arena in Minsk Gorky Park .
History
The specialized youth school of the Olympic reserve "Youth" was founded on September 1, 1975 . A year later, on November 8, 1976 [4] , an arena opened in Gorky Park in Minsk , which became the main sports base of the school. Youth and youth teams of the Sports School "Youth" six times became bronze medalists of the USSR championship, and in 1990 the youth team became the champion of the Soviet Union. According to the results of work in 1989 and 1990, the “Youth” sports school was recognized as the best specialized school in the USSR.
In 1977 - 1991, the team of the Sports School "Youth" participated in the championship of the BSSR , which had the status of the KFK championship. As a rule, the team took places in the lower half of the standings and only once, in 1980 , became the champion of the republic. The performance in the championship of the republic was for the school only a stage in the preparation for the meetings of the youth and youth championships of the USSR, the best players were involved in the Belarusian team of masters . At the end of the 1980s, the students of “Yunost” made up the backbone of Minsk “Dynamo” , who had made it into the major league of the USSR championship . The most famous player who went through the school "Youth" is Sergey Fedorov , who defended the colors of the school and Dynamo in 1984-1986 . In the future, the students of the “Youth” of the 1980s formed the basis of the national team of Belarus .
Since 1994, the team of sports school "Youth" began to play in the championship of independent Belarus . In the 1990s, the team was staffed with its own pupils, who found it difficult to resist the adult players of other teams, therefore, Yunost, as a rule, closed the standings. Under this name, the team performed in the seasons 1994, 1995, 1996/1997, 1997/1998, 1998/1999. In the 1996 season, the team in the championship of adult teams was not announced. In the summer of 1999, the Minsk City Executive Committee, at the initiative of the school’s management “Youth”, provided the Minsk Ice Hockey Club to provide practice practice for grown-up pupils of the school and for the employment of Belarusian hockey players. Mikhail Zakharov was appointed head coach. The team began to host home matches in a new ice palace on Pritytsky Street. As a sponsor for the club secured several metropolitan enterprises.
In the 2000/2001 season, the Youth School reiterated its own team in the national championship, which was headed by Mikhail Zakharov, and Valery Polshakov became the new head coach of the Minsk club (since 2001 Keramin HC ), and soon Alexander Vladykin [5] 6] ..
The season 2002/2003 team of the Sports School "Youth" held under the name "Youth" (Minsk), and on March 19, 2003, on the basis of the Sports School "Youth", the Minsk City Executive Committee established and registered the non-profit state institution "Ice Hockey Club" Youth-Minsk. After the reorganization, experienced Belarusian players and legionnaires appeared in the team. Strengthening allowed "Youth" in the first season after the transformation to win the championship title. From the season 2003/2004 to the season 2010/2011 inclusive, the team has never been without a medal of the championship of Belarus . In January 2007, the Yunost-Minsk hockey team for the first time in the history of Belarusian hockey won the IIHF Continental Cup , defeating Avangard Omsk in the decisive match. After winning in 2010, the next champion title "Youth" became the most titled team of Belarus.
In 2012, the team submitted an application for participation in the Higher Hockey League since the 2012/2013 season on the initiative of the Ice Hockey Federation and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism [7] . In the future, "Youth" intends to appear in the KHL [8] . On July 2, 2012, the team was unanimously accepted into the league since the 2012/13 season [1] .
On January 31, 2013, when Yunost had only theoretical chances to get into the VHL playoffs, the Yunost trainer Mikhail Zakharov recalled 20 players from the VHL. Together with them, he will replace the players of the Junior team, who won the right to play in the OChB playoffs [9] .
From the season 2013/2014 the team "Youth-Minsk" again participates in the championship of Belarus.
