History
The icon was discovered by art historian G. D. Filimonov in 1864 during the dismantling of the “filthy pantry” in the “tent” on the bell tower of Ivan the Great in the Moscow Kremlin , where “dilapidated and unusable” icons designed to be destroyed were stacked [1] . She entered the Rumyantsev Museum , where it was considered “the work of the circle master Simon Ushakov, ” which was due to the late recording of the icon, the last time carried out in the XVII century. After the dissolution of the Rumyantsev Museum in 1925, the icon as part of the collection of Christian antiquities was transferred to the State Historical Museum , where the restorer EI Bryagin cleared it. Due to the poor preservation of the author’s painting, the restorer was forced to save significant remains of the 17th century record on the icon. (green background, clothes, recipe on the hair, golden assist). In 1926, it was first exhibited at the exhibition of monuments of ancient Russian icon painting at the State Historical Museum. In 1930, when moving the collection of Christian antiquities to the Tretyakov Gallery, it was in its funds. In 1934, due to the need to improve the quality of the exposure of pre-Mongolian paintings of the Russian Museum , it was deposited (Inv. No. DZh-2115).
