History

Formed in Krasnoyarsk from flight instructors of the Krasnoyarsk, Achinsky and Montenegrin flying clubs as the 679th night near-bomber aviation regiment, however, almost immediately after entering the army, it was reassigned to a transport aviation regiment.

The regiment was armed with U-2 aircraft

As part of the army from 10.03.1942 to 01.13.1945 .

Mainly operated on the Kesteng direction of the Karelian front , was used to transport command personnel, conduct close reconnaissance, supply both regular units and partisans, reconnaissance and sabotage groups. Moreover, despite the name, until the end of hostilities in the north in 1944, it was partially used as a bomber regiment. So, in the spring of 1942 , the 1st regiment squadron was used in combat operations in the Kestengi region, and the 2nd carried out transport operations at the disposal of the head of the rear of the Air Force of the Karelian Front.

At the end of hostilities in the Arctic did not participate in battles.

Apparently, from June to December 1944 he was part of one of the air divisions operating as part of the 7th Air Army.
