Biography

Georges Leig was born in Villeneuve-sur-Lo ( Aquitaine , France ).

Minister of Social Development and Arts of France from May 30, 1894 to January 26, 1895 and from November 1, 1898 to June 7, 1902 .

French Minister of the Interior from January 26 to November 1, 1895 and from December 13, 1930 to January 27, 1931 .

Minister of the Colonies of France from March 14 to October 25, 1906 .

French Minister of Marine from November 16, 1917 to January 20, 1920 , from November 28, 1925 to July 19, 1926 , from July 23, 1926 to February 21, 1930, and from June 3, 1932 to September 2, 1933 .

During his tenure as naval minister, he worked with Admiral Henri Salon, chief of staff of the French Navy, in unsuccessful attempts to obtain a naval rearmament priority for government funding for army rearmament of the Maginot line .
