Vedlozero ( Karelia . Vieljärvi ) [2] is an old Karelian village, the administrative center of the Vedlozero rural settlement of the Pryazhinsky national region of the Republic of Karelia .

General Information
It is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Vedlozero , at the confluence of the Vokhta River, 50 km from the district center .
There is a breeding farm, forestry, a secondary school, a kindergarten, a medical assistant, a house of culture, a library [3] .
The common grave of the Soviet soldiers who died in the years of the Soviet-Finnish war (1941–44) remains [4]
The Karelian Folk Vedlozersky Choir, organized in 1938 by I. I. Levkin, operates. [five]
In 2013, the House of Karelian language (Karjalan kielen kodi) was organized in the village.
History
The village was first mentioned in documents in the XVI century . The Vedlozersky Pogost was part of the Obonezhskaya Pyatina of the Novgorod feudal republic .
By a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR of August 4, 1920, the Vedlozerskaya volost was transferred from the Olonets province into the Karelian labor commune formed .
On December 4, 1931, a chapel was closed by a decree of the Karelian Central Executive Committee ; on June 8, 1934, the church was closed [6] .
In 1935, the Vedlozersky District was formed as part of the Autonomous Karelian SSR (from 11 village councils of the Pryazha region and 3 village councils of the Olonetsky district).
In 1957, the villages of Zayachya Selga, Roznavolok, Pohost and the River Mouth were included in the village.
