Yuan Shu ( Chinese trad. 袁術 , ex. 袁术 , pinyin : Yuán Shù ;? - 199 ) - Chinese commander of the late Han and Three Kingdoms , a member of the noble family of Yuan. Known as one of the heroes of the novel " Three Kingdoms ."

One of the younger cousins of Yuan Shao [1] [2] . He participated in the uprising against Dong Zhuo as chief of the supply of troops with food. During the civil war, Yuan Shu ruled the Henan and Anhui counties, in alliance with the emperor of the kingdom, Wu Sun Tse subjugated many counties south of Yangtze . Yielding to a provocation organized by Cao Cao , Yuan Shu attacked Liu Bei and defeated his troops. At this time, the district that belonged to Liu Bei Xuzhou was transferred to Lu Bu . This contributed to the fact that Liu Bei joined the service of Cao Cao. Yuan Shu tried to intermarry with Lu Bu (to pass off his son as the daughter of Lu Bu). However, the mutual distrust and the title received by Lu Bu from Cao Cao did not allow this to materialize.
Soon, Yuan Shu declared himself emperor and started a war against Cao Cao, who at that time controlled the emperor Xian-di and increased his lands. Yuan Shu did not receive support from other rulers and lost the fight to Lu Bu . Sun Tse teamed up with Cao Cao against Yuan Shu. Together, they carried out a successful attack on Yuan Shu and in 198 took the capital of Hunan, the city of Houchun. In 199, Yuan Shu lost the battle to Cao Cao’s troops under the leadership of Liu Bei and soon died, having managed to declare Emperor Yuan Shao.
