Format
The Euroleague format consists of four stages. At the first stage, 24 teams are divided by drawing lots into 4 groups of 6 teams in each group. Clubs within each group hold two matches with each other - on their own site and away. The four best teams from each group go to the second stage , where they are divided into 4 groups of 4 teams in each group. At this stage, the teams also play each other in two matches within the groups. The clubs that took the first two places in each group reach the quarter finals of the playoffs, where they play up to three victories. The last stage is the Final Four tournament, in which the four best teams gather in one city, where they play the championship title in the playoffs until one victory.

Season
- For the first time in its history, the participant in the Euroleague was the German Oldenburg , the Greek Marussi , the French Orleans , as well as the Russian Khimki .
- For the first time since the 1990/1991 season , only one Italian team was among the top 16 clubs. It is worth noting that in that season there was only one Italian club Scavolini , if you take the seasons when two or more teams played, this was the first time.
- The Greek Panathinaikos could not make it to the quarter finals, having flown out at the TOP-16 stage, and this is the third time out of five that happens with the PAO, when the club, being the reigning champion, does not make it to the top 8, this already happened in 2003, 2008.
- For the first time since the 1989/1990 draw, the Polish team was among the eight best. The last time this succeeded Lech from Poznan.
- Serbian Partizan for the first time since the 1997/1998 season reached the Final Four.
- For the eighth time in a row, Moscow CSKA reached the Final Four in which it took 3rd place, it is worth noting that in eight seasons, the army team took all four places twice.
- The winner of the Euroleague for the second time was Spanish Barcelona .
