Lac ( fr. Lac - lake , Arabic. منطقة البحيرة ) - an administrative region in the Republic of Chad . It got its name from Lake Chad , which occupies a significant part of its area.

Geography
The Lac region is located in the far west of Chad. Geographically Lac corresponds to the former Lac Prefecture. In the north it borders with the Kanem region, in the south with the Hajer Lamis region . From the west and southwest, Lake Chad extends; here, the state borders of Chad merge with Niger , Nigeria and Cameroon .
Population
The largest ethnic groups inhabiting the region are Kanembu (66% of the total number of inhabitants) and Buduma (18%).
Administrative Division
Administratively, Lac is divided into 2 departments : Mamdi (consists of 5 suprefectures : Bol, Baga-Sola , Dabua , Kangalom and Liva ) and Vayi (3 sub-prefectures: Nguri , Dum Dum and Kuludiya ).
