Biography
In 1951 he graduated with honors from the biological department of Moscow State University , in 1954 he graduated with honors from the soil department of the biological and soil faculty of Moscow State University .
In 1957 he defended his thesis on the topic: “Soils of Siberia underlain by pebble alluvium and their use in irrigated agriculture”, in 1967 he defended his doctoral dissertation “Genesis and conditions for the reclamation of hydromorphic soils”.
Scientific and educational activities
Seidelman is the author of fundamental studies of soil-forming processes under conditions of periodic and constant waterlogging, podzol and gley formation , leaching , sulfate reduction , malting , and slitization .
He is the author of more than 400 scientific papers on genesis, hydrology, land reclamation , ecology and soil use, including 20 monographs. The author of 15 scientific and practical recommendations introduced into production; three survey soil-reclamation maps of the non-chernozem zone of Russia (M 1: 1500000). The author of the textbook “Land Reclamation” (the 3rd edition was published in the series “Classical University Textbook”). Co-author of the FAO - UNESCO Soil Classification Project, World Reference Base of Soil Science (1994).
He lectures on “Land Reclamation” and “Genesis and Ecological Basics of Soil and Landscape Reclamation”. Head and consultant of 24 candidate and 6 doctoral dissertations.
Awards and titles
Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (1999) [1] , laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology (2001), three prizes to them. V.R. Williams, Prizes to them. MV Lomonosov for scientific and pedagogical activity [2] . He was awarded the gold medal of VDNH (1988), the silver medal to them. P. L. Kapitsa “To the author of a scientific discovery”, the medal “For Valiant Labor” (1967), the Order of Friendship [3] (2004). Honorary member of the Dokuchaev Society of Soil Scientists. He was awarded the title "Honored Professor of Moscow University" (1994), the mark of the State Committee for Education of the USSR "For excellent success in work" (1989), and the Prize of the Ministry of Higher Education and the State Committee for Education of the USSR "For the best scientific work" (1979, 1988).
